Zephyrus (formerly Icebreaker) has been a competitive and formidable race yacht in New Zealand since her arrival here in 2015 from Hong Kong. In that time she has been heavily raced and maintained around the Auckland and the North Island coastline, with her latest result being 1st PHRF at Bay of Islands Sailing Week 2024. In 2017 she had a complete new rig and spar installed, as well as the new Mark2 Jason Ker designed keel with weight transferred to the now 3.2m deep bulb.
When purchased in 2021, an extensive refit was carried out removing the wheels and corresponding steering systems, installing a new carbon tiller, new steering bearing housings and bearings. The prod was exchanged for a new 450mm longer carbon prod, with strengthening to the bow crash bulkhead. All new B&G H5000 network with Zeus 3 chart plotter, nemesis mast displays and multifunction bulkhead displays.
With a full 2021 Doyle Sails Stratis Inventory - mainsail, a full suite of headsails and kites, Structured Luff and Cableless technology have been utilised for the performance of the boat.
