Description: Hood 38 Offshore Capable or Coastal Cruiser
This 1983 Wauquiez Hood 38 is presented in excellent condition, with numerous high quality upgrades to ensure long term safety and reliability. This vessel has recently arrived in New Zealand and is therefore ready to relaunch and sail away. With a retractable keel giving a draft of 1.4 to 3 meters, she is perfect for the tropics or shallow entrances.
As soon as you step aboard it is apparent of how well set up this vessel is. The decks are easy to move around with the standing rigging only two years old. The traveler is forward of the dodger, making the cockpit uncluttered and therefore easy to control the vessel. All lines are fed back to here as well as electronics and engine controls.
Step down into the main saloon where you are greeted by the well appointed galley on port, with the main double berth opposite and aft. The living area is light and functional with a foldable table and chart table/nav station here as well. Moving forward the bathroom is on starboard and a double vee berth forward.
"Enki" is powered by a 50Hp Perkins, rebuilt in 2013 and is presented in a well maintained condition. The sail wardrobe includes a 2018 Main with Slab reefing, a Hyra net sailcloth Genoa (New 2022), Furler (New 2023), Storm jib and a Gennaker with sock.
The electronic and safety packages are comprehensive and although not in New Zealand category one, it would not take too much to achieve this standard.
This vessel has been much loved and well maintained with all the important stuff done. She is a capable blue water cruiser and ready to go.
