Description: Dufour Grand Large 405
Dufour 405 Grand Large 2011 offers cruising yachtsmen and their families excellent sailing performance as well as a luxurious liveaboard experience. France's third largest production boat builder in 2011, Dufour Yachts, added a 40-footer to its wide range of cruising and performance yachts. All DuFour's are now designed by Umberto Felci - renowned for his ability to create very fast, stiff performance hulls without compromising on accommodation space and comfort. Dufour's Grand Large yachts are designed specifically to maximise their available internal volume and as such sport a generous beam that extends almost all the way aft from amidships. Saloon seating comprises a well padded, U-shaped settee with washable leatherette cushions and a 2-man bench seat inboard. Headroom is a generous 1.95m (6ft 5in) throughout the saloon, aft cabins and heads, dropping to 1.88m (6ft 2in) at the forward bulkhead.
The twin aft cabin boat has a linear galley and a separate navigation station with forward-facing chart table and seat. The fore cabin makes a comfortable master suite with its generous vee berth and ensuite head. The aft cabins are spacious with 2 double berths and generous floor area. 3 Opening hatches/lights offer good ventilation and there is plenty of clothes stowage in several lockers. She is powered by a 40hp Volvo D2-40F engine with Sail Drive. Above deck the 405GL features twin wheels connected via cables directly to the quadrant above her deep spade rudder. Her wide transom gate and drop down swimming platform provide an easy through passage to the stern when needed.
The helmsman has easy access to the primary winches and, due to her beamy stern, can step onto the side decks to go forward without disturbing those seated in the cockpit. All mainsail controls and halyards are led aft through clutches to self-tailing halyard winches on the coachroof. A securely fixed, drop-leaf table with sturdy grab bar atop makes moving around the cockpit easy and safe.
The current owner is selling due to change in lifestyle and has diligently looked after this vessel and enjoyed her sailing capabilities.
